The first short film “emotions” from the mental health art project “Who Am I?” by TOMOKO.
“emotions” depicts a woman reading a book and experiencing various emotions corresponding to the story. Throughout the film, three models representing her emotions—joy, anger, and sorrow—are always with her. In the final scene, as the woman falls asleep, the three models representing her emotions also fall asleep in the same bed, surrounding her.
This work conveys the importance of emotions and the significance of engaging in a dialogue with them. Emotions are always with us, precious and essential. We often tend to classify emotions simply as positive or negative and try to avoid negative emotions. However, every emotion has its meaning and reason for being.
For instance, the method of “emotion labeling” involves naming your emotions and engaging in dialogue with them to better understand and accept them. This technique helps reduce stress and maintain mental health by verbalizing your emotions.
This film, produced in New York, showcases meticulous attention to detail in hair and makeup, costumes, set design, and music. Please enjoy it on YouTube.
